Today I want to talk about something that, while perfectly legal in the UK is still very controversial… CBD.
I first heard about CBD oil a few years ago, while looking for something new to help ease pain caused by Hypermobilty Syndrome. I saw lots of positive things about this “miracle drug” but there was also a lot of conflicting information about it. Sadly that is still the case to this day which may be preventing a lot of people from trying it for themselves. As more and more people come forward with their first hand experiences of CBD I think it will really help to break down those barriers. Here’s hoping that I will be one of those people.
So I received my first order of CBD capsules this afternoon. I was a little sceptical of all of the online websites so I made my purchase with Holland & Barrett. I personally felt this was more secure as they are a regulated highstreet company, but I’m sure there are plenty of reputable sellers out there. If you do decide to try an online retailer, my advice would definitely be to do your research and read reviews.
I had heard the oil tastes really bad so I did opt for CBD oil capsules to make my first experience as easy as possible. Also there was a penny sale so I ended up getting 2 bottles of 60 10mg capsules. They are labelled as a 1 per day supplement so these should last me a fair while, which is good because these puppies are not cheap! At £34.99 a bottle, I have “high” hopes for this stuff… See what I did there?
Like most people you might hear Cannabidiol and think of marijuana. Well, you’re not entirely wrong, but while CBD is derived from the hemp plant the effects are very different. First and foremost, CBD oil contains no THC which is the psychoactive chemical that gets you “high”. CBD reacts with your body’s natural cannabinoid receptors and has been know to help with a multitude of ailments such as chronic pain and anxiety (Both of which I suffer with). As I said before, the information behind it isn’t very clear so I wouldn’t like to accidentally missinform you. Medical science is still quite behind when it comes to researching the positive effects of cannabinoids. I do, however, encourage you to research it for yourself if it’s something you’re interested in trying.
As I have only taken my first capsule today I will do an update blog in a months time to share my results. In the meantime keep your fingers crossed for me! I hope this quick introduction/pre-blog has sparked your interest and I’ll be back with more soon.
In the meantime let me know if you have tried CBD oil and what your experience has been? Also what are your thoughts on cannabis products being made available on the NHS? Sound off in the comments 😉
